In 1991, Marquette Community members joined together to raise money for the much-needed renovations to Kaufman Auditorium. To say the outcome of such a project was a success is an understatement indeed. The renovation included changing the appearance of Kaufman Auditorium and included a new color palette that reflected a historical gold, burgundy, green and cream coloring. The yellow carpet was replaced with stunning burgundy, the upholstered seats were now decorated in a rich patterned print, new burgundy main stage curtains were purchased, and walls and trim were painted to add a crisp, historic look. In addition to all of this, a new sound system was installed.
Now, over 20 years later, Kaufman Auditorium is in need of more renovations. As the bathrooms are in the final stages of being remodeled with the finest marble, granite, and fixtures, we are looking to update the auditorium once again to better accommodate everyone who uses it. Renovations we would like to raise money for include:
- Repainting the lobby and auditorium, accenting trim and ceilings in gold luster paint
- Purchasing new hanging microphones for added stage sound enhancement
- Purchasing new sound equipment to be able to accompany larger musical groups
- Add platforms on the main floor of the theatre for permanent sound and handicap seating
All remaining chairs are being endowed for $250 each. There are over 400 seats still available to be endowed on the main floor and balcony. Once a chair is endowed, your name will remain on the brass tag permanently. Click here to see a list of available seats that still need to be endowed.
